Princess Sichelgaita lady of Salerno<\/h1><\/div>
<\/span><\/div><\/div>[vc_column_text]As narrated in the “Alessiade” of the Byzantine historian Anna Comnena, Sichelgaita was the daughter of Guaimario IV, wise and powerful prince of Salerno.<\/p>\n

Historians describe her as a very cultured, charming, long-limbed and elegant woman, with a regal gait, a deep and sharp gaze, reflective and mysterious.<\/p>\n

He married the charming and powerful Norman duke Roberto il Guiscardo, with a Teutonic physique, blue eyes and a rough and strong-willed temperament, who divorced her from his first wife, Alberada.<\/p>\n

The couple life of the two dukes was not easy, both having a strong character, but historians tell of a sincere and passionate love between the two, who knew how to respect and collaborate together to make the Duchy prosper economically, socially and culturally. From their union eight children were born, three boys and five girls. Sichelgaita soon knew how to be appreciated by her people and her husband for her acumen, courage and the qualities of strategist and diplomat, to the point of becoming her adviser in the political choices of the kingdom.[\/vc_column_text]
